Concept Sketch: Ourana's Court

These are concept sketches for Ourana's court in Torin City. It is the place where the senate and the queen convene. It’s a monumental building with an open ceiling over the space where Ourana sits, or squats (as harpies do). Originally, Ourana had absolute power but overtime she relinquished some of her authority and gave the Torinian people a senate that she promised to respect the voice of.  I've written about Ourana in the past—about how she began as a megalomaniac with dreams of making a harpy empire a reality, and about how her time as ruler of Torin (including fatigue from centuries of war) has softened her. While there is still a part of her that aspires to expand her power and control, the burden of maintaining a kingdom often keeps those desires in check. Senator Cornelius Torin is an important advisor to Ourana. As part of Torin’s “Triad”, Ourana’s other advisors are the Demon Harpy Aello (who serves as the General of the Torinian Legion) and the Wrath Maiden Priscilla (who acts as an oracle using her unique powers of remote vision and foresight).
