Akaptor Desert; The Silver Sands Oasis
Danger: Low
In the Akaptor Desert is a sight that seems too good to be true to the weary adventurer: surrounded by sands that have miraculously taken on a silver color is an oasis where they are completely safe to rest and refresh.
The silver sands lead to a valley where a waterfall flows into a lake below from a giant clay pitcher that sits atop a rocky cliff. The origin of this clay pitcher is mysterious even to the dryads that resemble palm trees who inhabit this oasis.
Referring to themselves as the Areca Tribe, these dryads are very close, especially considering they are the only dryads to be found within a great distance in the Akaptor Desert. They are primarily sustained by the mineral-rich water that flows from the giant pitcher. Though they still have the desire to eat smaller creatures, as other dryads do, the water is nutritious enough to sustain them.
Once a month, they watch as the water from the pitcher begins to slow to a drip. Then, at night, when the water has stopped, a titanic luminous woman seemingly steps down from the sky and takes the pitcher. Her body appears to be made of liquid, and yet it is solid, leading to speculation that she is an elemental. The Areca dryads have taken to calling her Akwerii.
Akwerii leaves their sight over the rocky cliff but soon returns with the pitcher, as if she went to refill it. She then lays the pitcher on its side at the top of the cliff, causing glittering water to pour forth from it.
The Areca are grateful for this renewed promise of life in the Silver Sands Oasis. To show their gratitude, they keep their promise to Akwerii: to allow all creatures, predator or prey, to safely rest there.
Adventurers will hardly believe their eyes when they are greeted by a friendly dryad and invited to rest at the oasis with the promise that no harm will come to them from any other creature drinking there.
The Areca may not be very mobile, but there are many in the oasis, and they have very good throwing arms. Any predator attempting to prey on anyone there will find themselves succumbing to blunt trauma from a barrage of flying coconuts.
It is not known why Akwerii desires to have a place where all creatures are safe to rest in Felarya, but the Areca dryads are committed to keeping the peace there, lest the water cease to flow.
