Other characteristics: Shimmer has the appearance of being made almost entirely of crystal despite her body being warm flesh and soft to the touch.

Shimmer was born a canopy fairy in the Tolmeshal Forest. As a very young fairy, she underwent a transformation after experimenting with unstable dimensional forces. With a love for exploration, Shimmer traveled to the Miragia Forest, intent on trying to use the energy there to amplify her innate dimensional magic. Her experiment was successful, but she overshot her goal and transported herself all the way to Iracal Island.

Upon arriving on the island, weakened and vulnerable, Shimmer was immediately caught in a White Storm—a phenomenon that the inhabitants of the island suspect creates the large crystal formations found there. Shimmer fell ill following the storm. Stranded and exposed to the elements, she believed that playing with the strong dimensional forces of the Miragia Forest—and, consequently, Iracal Island—would prove to be a fatal mistake. As the flesh on her body slowly crystallized, she sobbed, regretting her careless actions.

The dridder Khariklo and her reluctant companion, Nosys, a sapient kensha beast, found the young fairy on the verge of death. Khariklo took her in and cared for the fairy as she would her own daughter. Given that Khariklo and her minotaur husband, Cheiron, weren’t able to have any children, it gave the dridder immense joy to raise Shimmer and help her realize the full potential of her developing powers, which had been altered during her mutation.

Shimmer gained the ability to use reflective surfaces as doorways. A mirror, a crystal, or even a polished, lustrous shield can be utilized as a window through which she can peer across space and cross it. The fairy also has the ability to create crystal formations of many shapes and sizes, useful for creating weapons, shields, or doorways on command.

Currently, Shimmer pursues her passion for exploration, often traveling between Iracal Island and the mainland by way of the mirrors in Khariklo’s chateau and her older mansion, which still stands in the Dridder Forest.
