ANNOUNCEMENT (Please read carefully)

In order to give my characters and the stories involving them the room to grow that I want them to have, I will be redefining my setting. Going forward, I will be using my own setting. I will not be naming Felarya or using any of its locations or characters in my stories. This doesn’t mean that I no longer want Torin or the many characters and ideas I’ve created for Felarya to be part of that world—I do want all of that to continue to exist in Felarya. At the same time, I feel it is best for me to work within my own setting.
Since returning to the Felarya community in 2022 after a ten-year absence, I have struggled to feel like I fit in anymore. My characters, which were more popular years ago (Helia, Atreus, and Gale in particular), now feel like products of Felarya as it existed back in 2010. In other words, the community has changed, and so have its preferences. The community is now largely role-play focused, and I’m not as devoted to that as I would need to be in order for my characters to thrive in that space.
Stories like the ones I have written—and plan to continue writing—are no longer as effective at bringing these characters to life within that environment. Sometimes, when things don’t work out as we hoped, it takes a significant change to move forward. I believe that creating my own setting will give me an opportunity to reach new audiences (or new communities), ones that don’t have expectations that immediately cause my stories to be overlooked.
Again, I don’t want the ideas I’ve contributed to Felarya to be removed. What I am doing is something in addition to that, but separate. To emphasize this separation, I will not be making any references to Felarya going forward.

Update (4/14/26): I will not be editing this website to remove references to Felarya because that will require too much work and cause confusion about my intent to keep my characters in Felarya. What I will do is make a new website for my new setting where my future stories will take place.
It saddens me to read that, to be honest. I'd hope there was no need for this split, but if it's what you think it's best for you and your stories, then I support your decision. However, I would say to talk it with more people, and maybe take some time to think about it more thoroughly, though I'm sure you have already done so. But as you say, things change, so maybe you could wait a little more and see if things change to something similar to how they used to be.
Also, with your stories and characters being in Felarya, it opens the door to making crossovers with others' characters too, which is always cool to see and…
